Trump

By Ngozi Onyeakusi — The President of US, Donald Trump’s administration Thursday introduced a new visa restrictions which paved way to end of birth tourism.

This means that Nigerians and other African pregnant socialites wishing to travel to United States of America (USA) to deliver their baby so that their new born will automatically become US citizen, will no longer have such opportunity.

Consequently applicants will be denied tourist visas if they are determined by consular officers to be coming to the U.S. primarily to give birth, according to the rules in the Federal Register.

It was gathered that the State Department “does not believe that visiting the United States for the primary purpose of obtaining U.S. citizenship for a child, by giving birth in the United States — an activity commonly referred to as ‘birth tourism’ — is a legitimate activity for pleasure or of a recreational nature,” according to the new rules, which take effect Friday, Janurary 24, 2020.
