The Lagos State commissioner of health, Prof. Akin Abayomi on Sunday announced the second COVID-19 fatality in the state.

“We lost a #COVID19 patient; a 36 year old Nigerian, male who died in a private facility on 4th April, 2020. Total number of #COVID19 patients who have died are now 2.”

“One case was evacuated bringing total evacuated to 2.

“As at 11.20a.m, 5th April, 2020. 6 new cases of #COVID19 confirmed, bringing total confirmed cases to 115.

“A #COVID19 patient was discharged on 4th April, 2020. The number of #COVID19 patients who have fully recovered and discharged are now 24,” on his twitter.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 10 new cases of the COVID-19 in the country bringing the tally to 224.

Of the ten new cases, he said Lagos recorded six, while Edo and the Federal Capital Territory had two each.

Currently, five persons have died from the disease while 27 have recovered and discharged.

“Ten new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 6 in Lagos, 2 in FCT and 2 in Edo,” it tweeted.

“As at 11:15 am 5th April, there are 224 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Twenty-seven have been discharged with five deaths.

“For a breakdown of cases by states: Lagos- 115; FCT- 45; Osun- 20; Oyo- 9; Akwa Ibom- 5; Ogun- 4; Edo- 9; Kaduna- 4; Bauchi- 6; Enugu- 2; Ekiti- 2; Rivers-1; Benue- 1; and Ondo- 1,” NCDC posted on its twitter.
