By Ngozi Onyeakusi—– The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Friday night, announced 1,483 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country.

The health agency disclosed that Kaduna had the highest record of the fresh cases with-545, FCT-235, Plateau-127, Nasarawa-80, Oyo-72, Delta-65, Rivers-64, Kano-46, Ogun-46, Bayelsa-30, Gombe-30, Abia-28, Osun-27, Edo-25, Ondo-14, Sokoto-12, Zamfara-10, Bauchi-8, Imo-5, Jigawa-4, Ekiti-4, Borno-4 and Niger-2.

The agency said five deaths occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,485 on Thursday to 1,490 on Friday.

The data from the agency disclosed that 504 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 94,150 while 22,498 cases were still active in the country.

The agency said the Friday report did not include data from Lagos State. NCDC also explained that they erroneously reported one new case, instead of three new cases for Zamfara State on Thursday.
